Water-Witching Workshops > the work of Wind: Air, Land, Sea - Blackwood Gallery, Mississauga

Water-witching Workshop in the Southdown Industrial area of Mississauga, Ontario. Developed for the work of Wind: Air, Land, Sea, a site-specific outdoor contemporary art exhibition, publication, and programming series developed and curated by Christine Shaw, presented by Blackwood Gallery, U of T Mississauga. The workshop involved divining our way throughout the 1.5km2 area outdoor exhibition area which included a wastewater treatment plant, oil and lubricants refinery, brownfields, a cement plant, a hazardous waste management facility, parks, fields of phragmites, and other sites. During this workshop, participants were provided with and introduced to the tools and techniques of dowsing as a way to move through the outdoor exhibition site and reflect on the past, present, and possible futures of this site. How can we arrive at an understanding of what remediation means in this region? Photos: Yuula Benivolski. Courtesy Blackwood Gallery. More at http://workofwind.ca
